Veteran college football kicker Danny Duray has passed away. He was just 20 years old.
Southeast Missouri State announced the tragic news. The veteran college football kicker died early on Wednesday morning. Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Brady Bark announced the news.
“It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that one of our student-athletes passed away,” said Barke. “This is a heartbreaking loss for our department, our campus community, and especially for those who knew and cared for him closely. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Duray family.”
Duray was in his second stint with the program. He started his career at SEMO before transferring to College of DuPage. He transferred back into the SEMO program for the 2026 season.
SEMO head coach Tom Matukewicz is devastated.
“Today is one of the hardest days I’ve experienced as a coach. We lost a young man who mattered deeply to our program and to so many,” Matukewicz said. “Our team is hurting. Danny’s family is hurting. We are going to wrap our arms around them the best we can and walk through this pain together.”

What was Danny Duray's cause of death?
Details surrounding Duray's death are unclear at this time. The Arlington Heights, Illinois native was a business administration major.
He was coming off a big season last year, making 32-of-33 PATs, 10-of-13 field goals and scoring 62 points.
Our thoughts are with his friends and family members during this difficult time.
May he rest in peace.
