The SEC might no longer be the premier conference in college football. That distinction belongs to the Big Ten. But the argument that the 16-team league is the deepest in the sport holds up, which makes it unpredictable week to week.
The top teams in the SEC — Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma — are all among the top contenders for the national championship. But even those at the bottom of the league have shown that they can take down a top team on any given Saturday. (See: Florida over Texas in 2025, Kentucky over Ole Miss in 2024, etc.)
Making matters harder this season in the SEC is the introduction of a ninth conference game in line with the Big Ten and Big 12. The ACC is also following suit starting this season. That means there are eight more losses to be distributed across the conference.

Heading into 2026, Georgia is still the team to beat in the SEC. The Bulldogs are back-to-back winners of the conference and they're tied for the highest win total at 9.5 with Texas. Next up is Alabama, Texas A&M and LSU all tied at 8.5. Only four teams — Arkansas, Mississippi State, Kentucky and Vanderbilt have win totals set under 6.5.

Best SEC Over/Under Bets for 2026
LSU (Over 8.5)
While there’s certainly some risk with all of the change in Baton Rouge, I’m buying stock in the Bayou Bengals with Lane Kiffin in charge. Quarterback Sam Leavitt looks 100% from a foot injury suffered at Arizona State, and Kiffin should jumpstart a struggling rushing attack to lift LSU to a spot among the SEC’s top offenses. Coordinator Blake Baker’s defense will be stingy once again, especially with linebacker Whit Weeks returning after an injury-plagued ‘25 campaign. The schedule is also manageable. LSU does not play Georgia or Oklahoma and gets Texas A&M, Alabama and Texas at home.-Steven Lassan
Georgia (Over 9.5)
The last time the Bulldogs won fewer than 10 games in a season was the shortened 2020 campaign. Before that, you have to go back to 2016, Kirby Smart's first season in Athens. Georgia's schedule is certainly tough, with trips to Alabama and Ole Miss and a visit from Oklahoma, but it's hard to imagine this program falling short of double-digit wins with Smart at the helm. -Kyle Wood
Oklahoma (Over 7.5)
The Sooners have one of the nation’s hardest schedules, but coach Brent Venables’ squad should still be in the mix for a playoff spot. The defense should be dominant once again under Venables’ direction, and optimism is high for the offense to take a step forward. Quarterback John Mateer is healthy after battling a thumb injury for the bulk of ‘25, and the rushing attack and offensive line are poised for a major step forward. Even if Oklahoma falls short of the 12-team playoff, I still think this team is closer to 9-3 than 7-5.-Lassan
Arkansas (Under 4.5)
The Razorbacks are operating at a talent deficit relative to the rest of the SEC this season. They're under new leadership with Ryan Silverfield in the door, and a roster overhaul isn't necessarily a bad thing on the heels of a season in which they went winless against the SEC. But the Hogs are unlikely to be favored in a single conference game this season, plus they have Utah on the road. Going from two wins to five is a bridge too far. -Wood
Ole Miss (Over 7.5)
Even if you think Ole Miss takes a step back without Lane Kiffin in charge, I have a hard time seeing the Rebels finishing 7-5. Yes, the schedule is tough. New coach Pete Golding’s squad plays Louisville in the opener, along with LSU and Georgia at home, with key games against Florida, Texas and Oklahoma on the road. That’s a tough path to the over. However, with quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, running back Kewan Lacy and an improved defense in place, I still think the Rebels challenge for a spot in the College Football Playoff (and hit the over at 7.5).-Lassan
Vanderbilt (Over 5.5)
The consensus seems to be most folks are out on the Commodores with Diego Pavia out of Nashville. I'm not so sure. Coach Clark Lea has built a sustainable infrastructure (hello, Jared Curtis!) to the point that Vandy should sweep its non-conference slate. Arkansas, Kentucky and Mississippi State are all projected wins. And if the 'Dores drop one of those, Auburn, Tennessee or Florida are all beatable. If they get to six victories, this would be their third straight bowl bid. -Wood
