Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton went viral Thursday night, but it’s not because his team secured a 17-14 overtime win over the Seattle Seahawks.
Prior to kickoff for the Seahawks-Broncos game, Payton had an interview with “Thursday Night Football” host Charissa Thompson. They were colleagues at FOX during the 2022 season, which Payton sat out after stepping down from his role with the New Orleans Saints.
At the end of their interaction, Prime Video’s camera crew caught Payton giving Thompson a kiss on the cheek before they went their separate ways. Unsurprisingly, that interaction caused a huge stir online.

“That is called greeting not kissing,” one fan said.
“Sean Payton kissing Charissa Thompson definitely wasn’t supposed to be caught on camera. Super weird,” a social media user wrote.
“Did Sean Payton just kiss Charissa Thompson,” a Broncos fan asked.
“That Sean Payton/Charissa Thompson kiss looked weird, but they were colleagues at one point,” another person pointed out.
So what’s next for Payton?
Neither Payton nor Thompson have addressed the drama online, nor are they obligated to.
At the end of the day, it seemed like a brief and friendly interaction between Payton and Thompson. Nothing more, nothing less.
The Broncos will return to action on Oct. 25 against the Arizona Cardinals. As for Thompson, she’ll be back on Prime Video next Thursday for the Patriots-Bears game.
