The Seattle Seahawks have reportedly made a massive statement following their Super Bowl LX victory, locking in star wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba with a record-breaking deal.

The Seahawks had recently exercised the 5th Year Options for Smith-Njigba.

Now, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the franchise agreed to a four-year, $168.6 million contract extension. The deal averages $42.15 million per year and includes over $120 million guaranteed, both setting new records for a wide receiver.

"Offensive Player of the Year and Super-Bowl champion Jaxon Smith-Njigba reached agreement with the Seattle Seahawks on a four-year, $168.6 million contract extension that now makes him the highest-paid WR in NFL history," Schefter wrote on X, per ESPN's sources. "The deal averages $42.15 million per year, and includes over $120 million guaranteed, both setting records for any wide receiver."

Smith-Njigba earned the payday after a dominant 2025-26 season. He led the NFL with 1,793 receiving yards and posted 119 receptions along with 10 touchdowns.

His explosive play turned him into the league’s top deep threat, leading in deep receiving yards and receptions. That production also helped him secure the AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year award.

His impact went beyond numbers, as he became a key piece in Seattle’s championship run. The Seahawks finished with a 14-3 record and secured the top seed in the NFC. Smith-Njigba delivered a standout performance in the NFC Championship Game, recording 153 yards and a touchdown.

In the Super Bowl, his presence stretched defenses, helping Seattle defeat the New England Patriots 29-13.

Quarterback Sam Darnold leaned heavily on Smith-Njigba throughout the season. Their chemistry powered one of the league’s most effective offenses. Even when not targeted, his ability to draw coverage created opportunities for teammates across the field.

The extension signals Seattle’s long-term vision. By securing Smith-Njigba, the team ensures stability for its offense after a title-winning season. The move also resets the wide receiver market, reflecting his value and production.

With this commitment, the Seahawks have made it clear they are building around a proven superstar.
