The Seattle Seahawks won their second Lombardi Trophy, defeating the New England Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in California, with kicker Jason Myers providing much of the scoring firepower. This victory came 12 years after their first championship.

The 34-year-old drilled five field goals in the match to become the first player in NFL history to score more than 200 points in a single season, and it includes playoffs as well.

The San Diego native entered Super Bowl LX with 171 regular-season points. It is the most by any kicker without scoring a touchdown after going 41-for-48 on field goals (85.4%) and a perfect 48-for-48 on extra points.

He added 35 playoff points in the postseason, including 17 from the final with the Patriots, putting him over 200 following the Super Bowl victory.

His Super Bowl performance pushed him past Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson's 198-point mark set in 2006. Tomlinson's number was untouched for over 19 years. Myers tied the record at halftime before breaking it with his fourth field goal of the game.

Myers went undrafted out of Marist College in 2013 and signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2015 after working as a valet and playing Arena Football for the San Jose SaberCats and Arizona Rattlers in 2014. After three seasons with the Jaguars and a Pro Bowl year with the New York Jets in 2018, he signed a four-year, $15.45 million deal with Seattle in 2019.

The Seahawks, however, extended Myers’ contract in 2023 with a $21 million deal after a Pro Bowl year in 2022. He has already surpassed Stephen Hauschka's previous record of 175. Plus, he set a new Super Bowl record by making 5 field goals against the Patriots.
