The Seattle Seahawks couldn’t have started the season any better in 2026. They won their first two games, even without Sam Darnold, but they’ve lost three of four since then.
The defense, for the most part, has still been elite, but the team has almost no ground game, and turnovers have been a killer. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the best wide receiver in football at this point, but he can only do so much as the only option that scares opponents.
To stop this skid, this Seahawks could look to the trade market for another weapon. Luckily, there should be several options available, including a former first-round pick who needs a change of scenery.
Seahawks Could Rejuvenate Brian Thomas’ Career

Brian Thomas Jr. had the best possible start to his career in 2024. As a rookie, Thomas caught 87 passes for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns, earning a Pro Bowl selection.
Then, in 2025, Thomas took a major step back, ending with 48 catches for 707 yards and two touchdowns. The receiver started being floated in trade rumors last season, as it seemed like he wasn’t a great fit in Liam Coen’s scheme.
Well, the downward trend has continued this season. In six games, Thomas has just nine catches for 105 yards and one touchdown. Parker Washington has clearly supplanted him as Jacksonville’s WR1, so a change of scenery could be the best-case scenario.
Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report recently identified the Seahawks as a logical fit for Thomas. The Seahawks desperately need a reliable option other than Smith-Njigba.
“While GM James Gladstone discounted the idea of trading Thomas during the offseason, his stance may have changed in the wake of the (Marvin) Harrison (Jr.) trade,” Knox explained. “After all, if Arizona can get a strong return for an underachieving receiver, Gladstone should at least consider doing the same.”
As Knox pointed out, the Jaguars may be more open to trading Thomas considering Marvin Harrison Jr. is off the market. The Cardinals got a decent return for Harrison, and he has less NFL production than Thomas does.
In Seattle, Thomas could join Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp and give the team some much-needed receiver depth. The receiver is still just 24, so he could still get better and wouldn’t be a rental.
