The Seattle Seahawks are right in the thick of things again in 2026.
The reigning Super Bowl champions have their eyes on a repeat, and they’ve arguably looked like the best team in football once again. A big reason why the Seahawks are so tough is because of their defense.
Since Mike Macdonald took over as head coach, the Seahawks’ defense has only gotten better and better. Last year, the unit was the best in the league, and it’s on pace to be so again in 2026.
The Seahawks have drafted extremely well, which is why the defensive pipeline has seemingly been endless. It’s never too early to begin thinking about next year’s draft, and the 2027 draft is expected to be extremely loaded.
This is one of the best rosters in the league, so what do they even need? Well, a recent mock draft has the team adding to a strength.
2027 Mock Has Seahawks Selecting Miami Star

Gilberto Manzano of SI recently published his updated 2027 mock. Manzano has the Seahawks picking at No. 32 and selecting Miami defensive lineman Ahmad Moten Sr.
Moten is a powerful interior lineman who has been at Miami since 2022. Moten racked up 31 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks in 2025, helping the Hurricanes get to the National Championship Game.
Regarding this selection, Manzano offered the following:
As Manzano mentioned, defensive line doesn’t seem to be a huge need, but Macdonald loves to make sure his defense is fully loaded.
Plus, it could be a bigger need than expected. Jarran Reed is only under contract for one more season, and despite signing an extension before Week 1, Leonard Williams isn’t getting any younger. The depth is also not great here despite the three starters being set in stone.
Moten excels as an interior pass rusher, but he needs to get better as a run defender. The lineman has so far earned a very respectable 69.5 pass-rusher grade, but he has just a 47.4 grade as a run defender. The Seahawks have plenty of run stoppers, though, so they may be fine taking a shot on an interior pass rush specialist like Moten.
It will be interesting to see if Moten raises his stock between now and April. Massive humans who can rush the passer from the interior are usually in high demand, so there’s no guarantee he’s available for the Seahawks.
