Seahawks’ 3 Biggest Questions Heading Into Week 2 Following Win Over Patriots

The Seattle Seahawks had a great Week 1, all things considered.

Not only did the team pick up a big win over the New England Patriots (again), but they looked like one of the best teams in the league while doing it. The divisional rival Los Angeles Rams also got blown out in Week 1, which can only help the Seahawks.

Of course, it can’t all be good. Star quarterback Sam Darnold got injured in the first quarter and didn’t return. Darnold avoided a fracture or anything season ending, but he is expected to miss a couple of weeks.

Now, ahead of the team’s Week 2 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, let’s go over the biggest questions surrounding that game.

Can Drew Lock Repeat Impressive Showing?

Drew Lock did everything you could hope for from a backup quarterback. Lock completed 16 of his 22 passes for 187 yards and one touchdown with no turnovers.

It was even more impressive that it came against the Patriots, who have a very solid defense, and Lock wasn’t expecting to have to play. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have Jaxon Smith-Njigba on the team or an elite defense, either. If Lock can put forth a similar performance- solid with no turnovers- the Seahawks shouldn’t have any problems.

Will Jadarian Price be More Involved?

Seattle Seahawks running back Jadarian Price (8) catches a pass during the first training camp at Virginia Mason Athletic Center on July 25, 2026.

In Week 1, the rookie Price took 10 carries for 52 yards. Price looked explosive and decisive, and it was a bit puzzling that he didn’t get more action, especially in the first half.

The Seahawks opted to rotate Price and veteran George Holani. Holani ended up with eight carries for 29 yards, but it’s already clear that Price has more juice. I understand being cautious with him in his first game, but I wonder if the training wheels will be taken off for Week 2. With Lock starting at quarterback, the run game has to be more involved.

Will Ty Okada and Nick Emmanwori be Back?

The Seahawks’ secondary was missing two key players in Week 1, but you wouldn’t be able to tell. Ty Okada and Nick Emmanwori missed the game, but Julian Love stepped up in a major way and ensured that the secondary was just fine.

However, it’s probably not sustainable to go without two starting safeties long-term. The Cardinals’ Jacoby Brissett looked impressive in Week 1, and if his offensive line holds up, he could potentially throw on this banged up secondary.
