The San Francisco 49ers are well into their 2026 training camp schedule. Much has been learned about this roster already, and we have a good idea of who is going to be starting at most spots.
Unfortunately, as fans of the 49ers are used to at this point, there's also been a fair number of injuries at camp. As a result, the team has shuffled the bottom of the roster to get some healthy bodies in.
The next few weeks are crucial for these bottom-of-the-roster and bubble players. Today, we're going to look at the updated 90-man roster and identify notable bubble players.

Key Players On the Roster Bubble
Kurtis Rourke: Kurtis Rourke is firmly on the bubble as QB3. There's no guarantee the 49ers keep a third passer, and it's not like Rourke has been too good to cut. It will be interesting to see how Rourke plays in the preseason, because if he impresses, the 49ers won't want to risk losing him on waivers.
Isaac Guerendo: Isaac Guerendo had a promising rookie season but was a complete ghost in 2025. The running back has been injured this summer, too, which definitely doesn't help his chances. Christian McCaffrey, Kaelon Black, and Jordan James are locks, with Guerendo battling Khalil Herbert, Patrick Taylor Jr., and others.
Demarcus Robinson: Demarcus Robinson is an experienced veteran wide receiver who is definitely good enough to be on a roster. The problem is, even with the Ricky Pearsall injury, the 49ers might not need Robinson. The veteran will have to beat out KhaDarel Hodge and a host of others for one of the final spots.
Bryson Eason: Bryson Eason is one of the most interesting undrafted free agents on this roster. The Tennessee product had a productive career for the Volunteers, and his versatility on the line makes him intriguing. He probably needs a great preseason to avoid the practice squad, though.
Luke Gifford: Luke Gifford just made a Pro Bowl, so why is he on the bubble? Well, the 49ers are much deeper at linebacker now, and Gifford only brings value on special teams. Fred Warner, Dre Greenlaw, Tatum Bethune, Jaden Dugger, and Nick Martin are all ahead of him on the depth chart.
Siran Neal: Like Gifford, Siran Neal primarily adds value on special teams. Neal does have some added value due to his ability to play as a safety or nickel, but there's a lot of competition in the secondary. Neal will have to beat out Ashtyn Davis for a spot.
