Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold took responsibility for his team’s overtime loss to the Denver Broncos, voicing frustration over a turnover problem disrupting his recent performances.
“It sucks,” Darnold said after Thursday night’s defeat, per Seahawks reporter Gregg Bell. He also called it “B.S.” that he has been giving the ball away so often.
Bell reported that Darnold addressed the entire team in the locker room and owned the loss. His response placed the quarterback’s mistakes at the center of Seattle’s postgame discussion rather than shifting blame to teammates or coaches.
Darnold’s interception total makes the concern difficult to ignore. Bell noted that he threw his sixth and seventh interceptions across four games, a costly trend for a Seattle team trying to stay in contention in the NFC West.
The loss to Denver ended in overtime, leaving Seattle at 3-3 and extending its losing streak to two games. Seattle had entered the matchup looking to respond after a close division defeat, but another turnover-heavy performance increased pressure on the entire offense.
Darnold’s comments acknowledge the issue, but accountability must be followed by better decisions. Seattle needs him to recognize defensive looks, avoid forcing throws into tight coverage and protect possession in high-leverage situations. Those adjustments matter when games reach their closing moments.

The Seahawks now have an extended break before their next game, giving head coach Mike Macdonald and offensive coordinator Brian Fleury time to review the passing offense. The extra preparation could help Darnold and his receivers sharpen their timing and address recurring mistakes.
Seattle remains within reach in the division, but the margin for error is shrinking. Darnold’s willingness to own the loss may matter in the locker room. The Seahawks need a cleaner outing when they return, and cutting down interceptions is the clearest place to start.
