Tyler Shough and the New Orleans Saints were blitzed 45-24 by Kevin Stefanski and the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football. Atlanta quarterback Michael Penix Jr. was efficient after missing the prior two games due to injury, completing 15-of-20 passes for 223 yards and a touchdown.
Falcons running backs Bijan Robinson and Brian Robinson Jr. combined for more than 200 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. Bijan contributed 145 rushing yards on 19 carries for two scores, while Brian found the end zone three times. The Saints’ run game did not see the same success, with running back Alvin Kamara totaling 23 rushing yards on seven carries with two touchdowns.

Saints quarterback Tyler Shough was dealing despite being under constant pressure, completing 30-of-48 passes for 286 passing yards and a touchdown, with wide receiver Chris Olave as his main target. Olave ended with a game-high eight receptions and 116 receiving yards. In the fourth quarter, with the game well out of reach, an unfortunate injury development emerged with Shough.
On ESPN’s Monday Night Football, a video showed Shough flexing his hand, with an assistant coming over to check on the hand of the 6-foot-5 quarterback. No update was given after the game, and Shough did not enter the medical tent.
“Tyler Shough Has A Hand Injury,” SM Highlights wrote on X. “He Was Holding It And Getting It Worked On The Sideline. Not Ideal For The Saints. 😬”
New Orleans will host Kevin O’Connell and the undefeated 4-0 Minnesota Vikings at Caesars Superdome on Sunday at 1 p.m., with coverage on FOX.
