The New Orleans Saints may have to compete Week 1 without Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara.
During this Tuesday’s joint practice with the Dallas Cowboys, it was reported by Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football that Kamara suffered a knee injury. He avoided suffering any torn ligaments, but he’ll be on the shelf for a while.
Well, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Saints will be without Kamara for at least the next month due to a sprained MCL.
Kamara, who agreed to a reworked deal with the Saints, is set to have a base salary of $6 million this season. He could earn up to $8.5 million with incentives, but that’ll be tough to deal if he’s not on the field.

RB situation for the Saints without Alvin Kamara.
Before Kamara suffered this injury, Travis Etienne was expected to receive the majority of the touches in Kellen Moore’s backfield. After all, he signed a four-year, $52 million deal with the Saints in free agency.
Now that Kamara is sidelined for at least a month, Etienne will have no competition for the starting job.
Etienne is coming off a 2025 season with 1,107 rushing yards and 292 receiving yards. We’ll see if he shines on the Saints this fall.
