New Orleans Saints wide receiver Brock Rechsteiner comes from one of pro wrestling’s most famous families. His father is WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner and his uncle is fellow Hall of Famer Rick Steiner. And while he was never a pro wrestler himself, Rechsteiner channeled his dad’s skill into a move on a Dallas Cowboys player in practice this week.
A video from the joint practice between the Saints and Cowboys showed Rechsteiner and Cowboys cornerback Caelen Carson getting into a shoving match. It got so bad that players from both teams had to step in and try to celebrate it.
But then Cowboys safety Jalen Thompson ran in and tried to push Rechsteiner off his teammate, which got the two of them tangled up. Rechsteiner fended him off, got behind his back with his arms around Thompson’s torso and delivered a German Suplex to the NFL veteran.
A Chip Off the Ol’ Block
NFL and WWE fans loved to see it. Plenty invoked some of his father’s most famous moments from pro wrestling to make some jokes about the whole, wild scene:
“That Cowboy found out he only had a 33.3% chance,” one user wrote, referring to Steiner’s iconic “Steiner Math” promo.
“Steiner math baby….that’s going to cost him…” wrote another.
“You can’t avoid your destiny, Brock,” a third remarked.
“You know they say all NFL teams are created equal! But you look at the Saints they have Brock Rechsteiner, a GENETIC FREAK and you look at Dallas, and you know that’s NOT TRUE!”

But this one was the best by far:
“You know they say that all men are created equal, but you look at me and you look at Jalen Thompson and you can see that statement is not true. See, normally if you go one on one with another football player, you got a 50/50 chance of winning. But I’m a genetic freak and I’m not normal! So you got a 25%, AT BEST, at beat me. Then you add the rest of them Cowboys to the mix, your chances of winning drastic go down. See the scrap at joint practice today, you got a 33 1/3 chance of winning, but I, I got a 66 and 2/3 chance of winning, because Jalen Thompson KNOWS he can’t beat me and he’s not even gonna try! So Jalen Thompson, you take your 33 1/3 chance, minus my 25% chance and you got an 8 1/3 chance of winning after you tried to rip my helmet off. But then you take my 75% chance of winning, if we was to go one on one, and then add 66 2/3 per cents, I got 141 2/3 chance of winning… and I already German suplexed your (expletive). See Thompson, the numbers don’t lie, and they spell disaster for you every time you step on the field with me.”
Scott Steiner ranks among the most decorated wrestlers in the world, having won titles in multiple countries at both the singles and tag team levels.
But his tag team with his brother Rick is considered one of the best tag teams of all-time. They were two-time tag team champions in WWE, eight-time tag team champions in WCW and were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame together in 2022.
Rechsteiner may not have his dad’s desire to be a WWE star, but it looks like he has the skill to at least give it a go (if his NFL career doesn’t pan out).
