Rory McIlroy will tee off at 1:30 a.m. on Thursday for the first round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational. After completing his career Grand Slam last year, he has opened the season strongly.
In his two PGA Tour appearances so far, McIlroy finished tied for second at the Genesis Invitational and tied for 14th at Pebble Beach. He took home a massive $1.8 million last month, pushing his career earnings past $110 million.
But before the tee-off, McIlroy was already part of a major announcement made on Wednesday. Amazon Prime revealed that a documentary covering the backstory of the 36-year-old star's Masters victory last year will begin streaming on the platform on March 31.
"A masterpiece 35 years in the making. Rory McIlroy: The Masters Wait premieres March 30." They posted on X, along with a trailer of the documentary.
McIlroy's Masters Journey
Since debuting at Augusta in 2009, McIlroy has been a frequent contender but has not captured the Green Jacket. He has seven top-10 finishes, including a runner-up showing in 2022 when a final-round 64, finished by a bunker hole-out on 18, propelled him up the leaderboard.
Other strong weeks include top-five results in 2015, 2018 and 2020, though 2011 and 2018 are remembered as missed opportunities.
Over 16 Masters starts, he has made 13 cuts, carded 36 sub-par rounds. His lowest round at Augusta is 64 and his Masters earnings are about $8.7 million.

After collecting the silverware at Augusta National, he was having a terrible time afterward and was suffering from driver issues, but it seems like this new season is going well for him so far.
"It feels like it's in really good shape. I'm really happy with the signs that I saw at Pebble Beach and Riviera," McIlroy said. "I think I did really well in strokes gained approach in those two events. I drove the ball pretty well at Riviera. I just couldn't make a putt for 27 holes."
