Roman Reigns has reached the point in his career where some of his old habits on the road are firmly in the past.
During an appearance on Club Shay Shay, Reigns discussed how drinking and partying have been part of wrestling culture across different generations. The conversation began with Shannon Sharpe bringing up the legendary stories about Andre the Giant’s drinking and asking whether wrestlers still party that way today.
Reigns explained that the culture had already changed by the time he became a WWE star. He came into the company immediately after John Cena’s generation, which he described as having a competitive element to partying, with wrestlers essentially testing who could keep going the longest.

Roman Reigns Says His Days of Wrestling Hungover Are Over
That wasn’t necessarily the case for Reigns and his peers, although spending time together after shows was still part of life on the road. When he was full-time, Reigns was frequently traveling with cousins and other family members. Late-night gatherings were a natural extension of how they already spent time together.
For Reigns, drinking after shows wasn’t only about partying. He explained that performers were often trying to deal with the physical soreness of wrestling while also coming down from the adrenaline of performing before finally getting some sleep.
At 41, however, Reigns said he no longer follows that routine.
The former Undisputed WWE Champion joked that he’s “too old now” for that lifestyle and acknowledged that earlier in his career he could even wrestle the next day while hungover.
Those days, according to Reigns, are over.
