The Colorado Rockies are giving one of their top prospects another opportunity in the majors, recalling outfielder Zac Veen ahead of Tuesday night's series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The move continues Colorado's commitment to evaluating young talent during the final stretch of the season as it looks toward 2027.
Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reported Tuesday that the Rockies recalled Veen from Triple-A Albuquerque. To make room on the 40-man roster, Colorado designated infielder Edouard Julien for assignment after his stint with the organization.
Veen forced his way back to the majors with a dominant season for Albuquerque. The former first-round pick batted .327 with 24 home runs, 33 doubles, eight triples and 87 RBIs while posting a 1.037 OPS across 100 Triple-A games, making a strong case for another extended opportunity in the big leagues.
Julien became the corresponding roster move after appearing in 88 games for Colorado this season. The 27-year-old hit .208 with three home runs, nine doubles, 20 RBIs and a .322 on-base percentage before being designated for assignment.

Colorado entered Tuesday with a 46-73 record, remaining in last place in the National League West. The Diamondbacks arrived at Coors Field at 64-56, sitting second in the division while holding a National League Wild Card position.
Manager Warren Schaeffer is expected to give Veen regular playing time during his latest call-up, allowing the 24-year-old to continue proving he can be a long-term piece for the Rockies after his outstanding production in Triple-A.
