Robert Griffin III hasn’t played a snap in the National Football League since 2020, and it’s been even longer since he started multiple games. But the former Heisman Trophy winner continues to tease a potential NFL return.
RGIII has built a pretty solid career for himself as an analyst since being waived by the Ravens five years ago, and currently serves in FOX’s No. 2 college football booth alongside Connor Onion.
But during a recent appearance on the “Dan Patrick Show,” Griffin seemed to allude to a comeback maybe being in the works.

RGIII says ‘conversations’ taking place about potential NFL comeback
Speaking as a guest on the legendary sportscaster’s self-titled show, RGIII seemed to indicate that there’s been some interest from NFL teams.
“Things are percolating there Dan, let’s just put it that way,” Griffin said. “I’m pretty content, very happy. I’m a girl dad of four. Got a very happy life. Love my wife. Enjoying life to the fullest. And then all these quarterbacks started going down. So I’m sitting there like, ‘Well, I could probably go play better than Cooper Rush, and better than this dude over here.’”
“What I would say is that there have been some conversations that have been happening and I’m very happy at FOX Sports. I’m very happy with what I’m doing. It would have to be the right opportunity to get me to go do that again,” the 2012 Offensive Rookie of the Year continued.
“We’ll see if it pops up. But I’m very happy at FOX Sports. They treat me well. I love my team. We’re having a good time. And I’m not going to sacrifice that just to try to make headlines.”
Robert has been pretty active on social media comparing himself to Rush and other backups in the league, and has even posted himself doing some drills out on the grass.
While it still feels like a longshot that a team would be willing to bring a 36-year-old RGIII into their organization, we are living in a post-Philip Rivers world where almost anything seems possible.
