Ric Flair’s absence from the Cauliflower Alley Club’s 60th reunion has raised questions about the WWE Hall of Famer’s health after medical reasons kept him from attending the Las Vegas event.
“The Nature Boy” was scheduled to receive the 2026 Iron Mike Mazurki Award, one of the Cauliflower Alley Club’s most prestigious honors. The award recognizes a lifetime of achievement and contributions to professional wrestling. Flair had been expected to attend the ceremony in person, but Jerry “The King” Lawler stepped in on his behalf after being contacted by Ric Flair.
Dave Meltzer discussed the situation during the August 27 edition of “Wrestling Observer Radio,” explaining that Flair’s absence was notable given the importance of the occasion.
“Natalya was in Vegas tonight after the show inducting Bret, who got the Iron Mike Mazurki Award at the Cauliflower Alley Club. The big thing on the show was Ric Flair, and Lawler came to replace Ric Flair. I guess Ric called Lawler, and I think Flair did a video, but they said that due to medical reasons, Ric could not be there. So that’s concerning,” Dave Meltzer said.
Meltzer later explained why Flair’s involvement made the cancellation particularly significant.
“This was a real, real big deal, Ric being there. I guess he knew ahead of time. The story was that Ric called Lawler and told Lawler to come for him, so they had Lawler,” he added. [H/T: Ringside News]

The nature of Flair’s medical issue has not been disclosed. While his absence has understandably prompted concern, there is currently no confirmation that he is dealing with a serious new health problem.
The WWE Hall of Famer has dealt with health issues in recent years, including treatment for skin cancer in 2025. He has also continued to monitor his health while making occasional public appearances.
The 77-year-old’s decision to arrange a replacement suggests he knew ahead of time that he would not be able to make the trip. However, that alone does not establish how serious his condition is.
For now, the confirmed information remains limited to the medical reason given for Flair’s absence. Until Ric Flair or someone close to him provides an update, speculation about his condition would be premature.
