Ric Flair has remained a constant supporter of his daughter, Charlotte Flair, throughout her wrestling career, even as his own professional ties have taken him in a different direction. The WWE Hall of Famer recently discussed how that connection has affected his ability to watch Charlotte compete in person.
During an interview on “NewsNation’s BIFF,” Flair was asked about Charlotte’s career and whether he continues to follow her matches. The 16-time world champion made it clear that he keeps up with her performances, but explained that attending WWE events has become increasingly difficult since he began working with All Elite Wrestling.
“I don’t, I don’t miss a match,” Flair said.
He then explained why he believes he cannot attend many of Charlotte’s matches in person, pointing to his association with WWE’s rival promotion.
“If I’m not, if I’m not there, well, I can’t go to a lot of them now ’cause I work with AEW and they, and they, they don’t, they don’t like to bring me into the building.”
The veteran also clarified that he does not believe the situation is the result of personal disagreements with WWE talent. Instead, he attributed the issue to the rivalry between the two wrestling companies.
“Um, not because I don’t get along with the guys. It’s just that, you know, the competition.”
His comments reflect his view that his AEW affiliation has become an obstacle to attending WWE shows, even when his daughter is competing.
Ric Flair Reaffirms His AEW Loyalty Despite His WWE Ties
Flair’s comments come after he addressed speculation about a possible WWE return in September 2026. In a statement shared on social media, he called the rumors untrue and said he remained friends with WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque. He also stressed that he was loyal to AEW president Tony Khan, who gives him the freedom to pursue his business ventures.
Flair signed a multi-year deal with AEW in November 2023 and initially joined the promotion as part of Sting’s retirement storyline. His association with AEW has continued even as Charlotte remains one of WWE’s prominent stars.
The Nature Boy’s latest remarks do not suggest a personal falling-out with Triple H or WWE wrestlers. Rather, he believes the companies’ competition explains why he is unable to attend many events featuring his daughter.
