WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has canceled his scheduled appearance at Washington State Horror Con after revealing that a blood clot in his leg continues to affect his ability to travel. The 77-year-old wrestling legend shared a health update on social media, apologizing to the event organizers and fans who were expecting to meet him in Seattle.
Washington State Horror Con runs from October 23 to 25 at the Washington State Fair and Events Center in Puyallup, Washington. However, “The Nature Boy” explained that his doctors have restricted his travel to three or four hours, making the trip to the West Coast impossible for now.
This is not the first event Flair has missed because of the condition. He was also unable to attend the Cauliflower Alley Club reunion in August, where he was due to receive the Iron Mike Mazurki Award. He accepted the honor remotely after explaining that the blood clot prevented him from making the journey.
In his latest statement, Flair apologized to his agent, Steve Solomon, the convention organizers, Big Event NY, and his fans. He also stressed the seriousness of blood clots, referring to Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts’ recent complications involving blood clots in his lungs.
The wrestling legend shared the following message on X:
“I Want To Sincerely Apologize To My Agent, Steve Solomon, Washington State Horror Con @wahorrorcon, @bigeventny, And Especially All My Fans In Seattle For Having To Cancel My Scheduled Appearance. Unfortunately, I Am Dealing With A Blood Clot In My Leg, And My Doctors Have Limited My Travel To 3–4 Hours. Seattle Falls Outside That Range, And As Disappointed As I Am, I Have To Put My Health And Recovery First.
Blood Clots Are Extremely Serious And Can Be Life-Threatening. We Have Seen This Recently With Jalen Hurts And The Complications Involving Blood Clots In His Lungs. It Is A Reminder That This Is Not Something To Take Lightly, And I Must Follow Medical Advice.”
Flair then revealed that he has a procedure scheduled to strip the affected vein, which his doctors expect will help him receive clearance for longer trips.
“I’m Scheduled To Have A Procedure To Strip The Affected Vein, Which My Doctors Expect Will Allow Me To Be Cleared For More Travel Afterward. Please Know This Decision Was Not Made Lightly. I Am Truly Sorry For The Inconvenience And Disappointment, And I Am Incredibly Grateful For Your Patience, Understanding, And Continued Support.
I Look Forward To Getting Healthy And Seeing You All Down The Road. Thank You For The Love And Support. Much Love, Ric Flair.”

Despite making only occasional appearances for AEW, Ric Flair remains under contract with the promotion. He joined the company in 2023 as part of Sting’s retirement storyline, with his involvement centered on his longtime friendship with the former TNT Champion. Flair was present throughout Sting’s farewell run, which culminated at AEW Revolution in March 2024, when Sting and Darby Allin defeated The Young Bucks to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
“The Nature Boy” has continued to speak positively about AEW president Tony Khan, recently praising him during an interview with “NewsNation.” The wrestling legend suggested that Khan continues to support him out of respect, even though he has not been regularly featured on AEW television.
“He’s a nice guy, he’s generous. I work for him, and I don’t do anything,” Flair said. “I think he takes care of me out of respect for me. He grew up on me. He’s just a wonderful guy.”
For now, Ric Flair’s immediate priority is addressing the blood clot and following his doctors’ travel restrictions. He has not announced a date for the planned vein procedure or confirmed when he expects to resume longer-distance appearances, leaving his return to the convention circuit dependent on his recovery.
