Rey Mysterio has spent most of his legendary career behind one of the most recognizable masks in professional wrestling, making it unusual whenever fans get a completely unobstructed look at the WWE Hall of Famer.
WWE star Dragon Lee provided exactly that this week.
Lee posted a 10-photo carousel to Instagram captioned simply, “Just Fire 🔥,” featuring several snapshots from his recent travels and time with fellow wrestlers. The carousel included Lee posing in different masks, attending a UFC event and spending time with fellow luchadores.
The most noteworthy photo, however, was saved for the end.

Lee Posted Mysterio Unmasked In Gym
In the final image, Lee posed inside a gym alongside a fully unmasked Mysterio. The 51-year-old WWE legend wore glasses and a Mysterio T-shirt while standing next to his longtime protégé. As of Thursday evening, the post had accumulated more than 11,000 likes, including one from CM Punk.
Mysterio being photographed without his famous mask isn’t unprecedented. Earlier this year, Mysterio himself posted a photo traveling to Saudi Arabia alongside Penta and Dragon Lee with all three men unmasked, although they partially concealed their faces.
The mask remains an important part of Mysterio’s identity decades into his career. He famously competed without it during the latter portion of his WCW run before returning to the masked presentation when he joined WWE in 2002.
Lee has developed a close relationship with Mysterio in WWE and has publicly described the Hall of Famer as a mentor. During a July interview with Chris Van Vliet, Lee discussed Mysterio’s influence on his career and even addressed the previous viral photo of himself, Mysterio and Penta without their masks.
Mysterio was even forcibly unmasked on WWE television earlier this year following his June 8 match against Penta, with Dragon Lee helping protect Mysterio’s face until his mask was returned.
