President Trump is reportedly putting an NFL game on his sports calendar.
The 80-year-old President of the United States will be attending Sunday’s game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers. The 1-4 Bucs will be hosting the 3-2 Steelers on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. E.T.
CNN White House correspondent Kristen Holmes broke the news on Sunday, as the game has been added to President Trump’s calendar.
“President Trump is expected to attend the Tampa Bay game in Florida Sunday, two sources familiar with the plan tell CNN. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are playing the Steelers,” she reported on Tuesday.
The Steelers are coming off a win over the Colts, while the Bucs are coming off a surprising win over the Cowboys.
Steelers coach Mike McCarthy is happy with state of the team
President Trump will be seeing a motivated Steelers team on Sunday.
“As we say in Pittsburgh, we redd it up, we redded it up,” said McCarthy after the Week 5 win. “It’s a good start. I think any time you win a game, and it comes off of a healthy week of preparation, I think the newness of how you do things in year one, this was clearly our best week. Taking Tuesday and then focusing on ourselves was the right call on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
“Leading into it, it felt good coming into the game, but obviously it’s never perfect. There are things that we’ll clean — continue to clean tomorrow and just keep it about ourselves.
“I thought their offense did a nice job. Their big play production was up. We were obviously focused on the run defense.
“Offensively, I thought we had a pretty good mix today. Special teams, I think we’ve got to continue to work the fundamentals. That was really an emphasis all week. Without seeing the film, I think it’s going to be something he we need to continue to emphasize.”
The Bucs, meanwhile, are coming off a momentum-building win themselves, having taken down the Cowboys in Week 5.
