Refs should be investigated.

CBS.

The referees in the Duke vs. UConn game should be investigated for a blown call in the second half on Sunday. Seriously - it was that bad.

The rules in basketball define a "charge" as follows:

A charge is an offensive foul that occurs when an offensive player charges into a defender. For the call to be a charge and not a block, 3 criteria must be met:

  1. The defender must be in legal guarding position when the contact occurs.
  2. The defender is not standing in the restricted area (does not apply to high school).
  3. The defender is not the one who initiates the contact.

Now, reading that, what foul should have been called on this play?

The refs called that a block on UConn guard Braylon Mullins, who is 6-foot-4 and probably at least 50 pounds and six inches smaller than Cameron Boozer.

That seemed like a picturesque charge, but instead, the officiating crew in Washington, D.C. called a charge, giving two free throws to the National Player of the Year candidate.

College basketball fans couldn't believe it

"How is that not a charge on Boozer?" one fan wrote.

"Mullins obliterated by Boozer in the lane, no charge called," one fan added.

"These refs let Boozer do whatever he wants how is that not a charge Duke is unwatchable the refs help them so much every game," one fan added.

"Charge on boozer —> no call. We can’t all have it that good," one fan added.

"Duke’s getting calls gets me to reason 1 million for why I hate them. The kid is gonna live but Boozer could’ve killed him on that charge," one fan added.

UConn has been on the receiving end of several foul calls on Sunday. The Huskies have 16 team fouls in the Elite Eight game.

The finish is coming up on CBS.
