The Boston Red Sox have a new uniform design for 2026.

The Red Sox, who are hoping to contend in the AL East this year, released their official 2026 uniforms on Tuesday. However, the team photos immediately sparked blowback on social media. The team is now promising to re-design their uniform ahead of Opening Day later this year.

"Compared to last year (left), there’s something off about the lettering on the Red Sox’ home whites this year (right)," one fan wrote.

Another fan pointed out: "The lettering on the Red Sox jerseys this year is SO bad. Went back to the old template with wider spaced piping down the middle, but using last year's lettering template. So, so, so bad."

Red Sox promise changes to 2026 uniform

The Red Sox have promised that a change will come to the 2026 uniforms, before Opening Day.

"To be clear, the original design was selected by the Red Sox. Fanatics executed to our specifications and has been an outstanding partner throughout. They deserve no blame and we are grateful to them for making the new jerseys in time for Opening Day," the Red Sox announced.

The Red Sox are scheduled to open the 2026 regular season on Thursday, March 26 against the Cincinnati Reds.

First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. E.T.
