The Boston Red Sox are off to an ugly start to the 2026 season. The team won only twice in their first 10 games, and when things were seemingly getting better for them, their pitching and hitting woes continued to hinder them.

Boston has dropped to 9-15 on the season, most recently losing two straight games to the New York Yankees. The Red Sox remain at the bottom of the American League East, and things don't look very promising for them since they play the Baltimore Orioles and Blue Jays next after their series against New York.

At the time of writing, the average ERA of the Red Sox's pitching staff is 4.39. As for their batters, they are 23rd in the league in OBP (.210) and the worst team in SLG (.333). Their OPS ranks 27th at .644.

While Boston tries to figure out a solution to their offensive woes, it hasn't stopped them from making an impact on the community.

In fact, prior to their showdown with the Yankees on Wednesday, the Red Sox announced the latest project they successfully completed with the help of star outfielder Jarren Duran.

The Red Sox had their annual One Boston Day volunteer event earlier in the day, with Duran taking part in the initiative. Over 65 volunteers came together to help refurbish a teen center, as well as an afterschool center.

In one of the photos shared, Duran can be seen painting a wall.

"With over 65 front office volunteers, community members, and members of the team, we refurbished a teen center and an afterschool center and built brand new garden boxes with fresh vegetables at the Roxbury Tenants of Harvard community housing with our friends at Rebuilding Together Boston!" the Red Sox wrote.

The Red Sox clearly remain committed to giving back to the community and making a difference beyond baseball.

For what it's worth, the team also recently revealed its player captains for the programs of the Red Sox Foundation. Ace Garrett Crochet was named captain for the Fenway Park Learning Lab, Garrett Whitlock for the Jimmy Fund, Tanner Houck for Home Base, Patrick Sandoval for Red Sox Scholars and Carlos Narvaez for Nike RBI.
