In late February, it was announced that the Mountain Dew Baja Blast had earned the crown of becoming the official soft drink of the 2026 Major League Baseball season.
So it really shouldn't come as a surprise that, in the lead-up to Opening Day, there might be some crossover promotion items on the way to celebrate the Dew's new throne.
But what many MLB fans most likely did not expect was for Rawlings to drop a pre-order, limited edition "Heart of the Hide Baja Blast" baseball glove, retailing for $399.99.
What Is the Rawlings 'Heart of the Hide Baja Blast' Glove and Why Does It Cost $400?
Before diving into the fine details and artistic ways of the "Heart of Hide Baja Blast" glove, the difference in social media posts between someone who works for MLB and someone who writes about MLB could not have been further apart if they had tried.
First, here's Max Ralph, who writes trending content for MLB:
And here's Jeff Jones, who covers the St. Louis Cardinals and didn't really seem to share the same heartfelt sentiment:
To be completely fair, though, that is a pretty nice looking baseball glove with a tremendous blend of colors.
However, the hefty price tag of $399.99 for a glove that features an enormous, in-your-face logo of a popular soda brand in the palm of said glove seems a little ridiculous.
But given that it is a limited release, many active buyers out there might be doing so for reselling purposes, although that's just a hunch.
Having said all of that, a WWE x MLB championship title belt will cost you a whopping $599.99, so perhaps the glove's pricing is a borderline bargain?
Anyway, according to the official description from the Rawlings site, the glove brings "unmatched energy to the field" and is "a one-of-a-kind collaboration that blends pro-level performance with unmistakable style."

Other highlights from Rawlings include the following:
- As seen in the above photos, "420" is embroidered in white on the back of the glove, which serves as a salute to another Mountain Dew-MLB partnership where any time a player launches a 420-foot home run (or further) this season, fans can get a free 20-ounce Baja Blast.
- Each detail, from the "vibrant Baja Blast-inspired colorway" to the premium construction, was "designed to perform at the highest level without sacrificing personality."
- The glove is crafted from premium "Heart of the Hide" leather and is wrapped in Baja Blast's signature teal, with "rays of golden sunshine" across the back.
- The 11.5 inch pattern was designed specifically for infielders, featuring a shallow pocket.
Additionally, upon adding the glove to the cart on the Rawlings site, the $6.99 shipping charge is gracefully negated.
Hey, every penny counts. Particularly so in this instance.
Love it or loathe it, it's been quite a run for Mountain Dew as of late, having recently announced a Baja Blast skincare product collaboration with ... Taco Bell.
And they weren't done there, either.
Mountain Dew also went viral this week for its "Dirty Mountain Dew," a new legend in the soda lineup that caused quite a stir and is set to release nationwide on Monday, April 6.
With the MLB and its never-ending journey of a 162-game season, it's a safe bet that the Baja Blast bonanza is just getting warmed up.
