Less than a week after signing Zay Flowers to a lucrative extension, the Baltimore Ravens nearly lost him in practice to a serious injury.
On Tuesday, the Ravens officially signed Flowers to a four-year, $140 million extension that includes $108 million guaranteed. He's now tied with Justin Jefferson as the fourth-highest paid wide receiver.
"A great day for the Ravens," head coach Jesse Minter said, via ESPN. "When your best players are the right type of people, and they bring the right mentality, and everything marries together, those are the type of guys ... it's such a great thing when something like that happens to them. Nothing better as a coach than to see those guys get what they deserve."
Unfortunately for the Ravens, there was a collision at this Saturday's practice involving Flowers and safety Jaylinn Hawkins.
Flowers limped off the field and was "favoring his left leg," according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley.
"Flowers had trouble getting up before getting looked at by trainers, who flexed his left leg," Hensley said. "Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry came over to check on Flowers. Ravens GM Eric DeCosta also spoke to Flowers while being looked at by trainers."

When healthy, Flowers is a game-changer for Baltimore's offense. He had 86 catches for 1,211 yards and five touchdowns during the 2025 season.
The good news for the Ravens is that Flowers avoided a serious injury during Saturday's practice.
Minter told reporters that his No. 1 wideout is dealing with a quad contusion.
Flowers is expected to miss a few days of practice, but he should be ready for Week 1.
