Diego Pavia won't be part of the Baltimore Ravens' training camp. The team announced that it waived the quarterback to make room for Ethan Pocic on the 90-man roster.
Pavia went undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft despite finishing as a runner-up in the Heisman Trophy voting.
He made headlines by blasting the voters with an explicit X post. The 24-year-old then attended a nightclub party and gestured toward a sign that took a shot at the Indiana Hoosiers. Baltimore took a chance on him and included him in the competition for their third-string quarterback job during spring practices.
With the QB1 and backup spots belong to Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley, the team will have Skylar Thompson and undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano contest the QB3 job.
Pavia starred for the Vanderbilt Commodores in his last two collegiate campaigns. He earned SEC Newcomer of the Year honors in 2024 and was named SEC Offensive Player of the Year last year. The 5-foot-10 signal-caller completed 267-of-378 passes for 3,539 yards, 29 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 2025.
However, scouts raised questions about his height, arm talent and age heading into the draft. Teams hesitated to draft a smaller quarterback without elite physical traits. Pavia became the first Heisman finalist to go undrafted since Jordan Lynch in 2014.
It remains to be seen if he will have another shot at making an NFL roster. The Carolina Panthers and Detroit Lions have been named as potential landing spots, but Pavia’s future remains unclear, especially with training camps starting soon.
