The Baltimore Ravens are preparing for the possibility of playing without starting quarterback Lamar Jackson after the two-time MVP injured his left ankle during Sunday’s 24-18 win over the Tennessee Titans.
ESPN reported on Tuesday morning that Jackson is dealing with a sprained ankle and has “only an outside chance” of appearing in Week 5’s matchup.
“Lamar Jackson is dealing with a sprained ankle that gives the Baltimore Ravens quarterback only an outside chance to play Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, sources told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport,” ESPN reported on Tuesday morning.
Jackson could miss multiple games depending on how his rehabilitation progresses, but the injury isn’t considered long-term and isn’t expected to require surgery.
Speaking on Monday, Ravens head coach Jesse Minter stopped short of offering a firm timeline for Jackson’s return.
“I don’t know the chances yet,” Minter said. “We’re still gathering a lot of the information and the imaging and things like that, just dealing with a little bit of an ankle and we’ll kind of see where that shakes out. [I have] full trust and confidence in him that when it’s ready to roll that we’ll roll and go from there.”
Jackson suffered the injury just before halftime against Tennessee and did not play in the second half. He left M&T Bank Stadium wearing a protective boot on his left foot.

Minter doesn’t expect the injury to become an extended absence, saying, “I really don’t think it’s going to be crazy long term, but we’ll see what happens.”
If Jackson cannot play against Atlanta, Tyler Huntley will start on Sunday. Huntley completed eight passes on nine attempts last weekend, reaching 63 yards but failing to toss a touchdown.
The Ravens host the Falcons on Sunday at 8:20 p.m. ET as they try to improve to 4-1 for the first time since 2021.
