Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman Calais Campbell knows the challenge awaiting his team against the Cincinnati Bengals. In comments shared by ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, Campbell highlighted quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.
Campbell began with Burrow, whom he described: “He’s the general.” The phrase captures the quarterback’s role in directing Cincinnati’s offense and delivering the ball to his playmakers.
Disrupting Burrow’s timing will be important for Baltimore. If the Ravens allow him to settle into the pocket, he can spread the ball across the field and force defenders to cover for extended stretches.
Campbell also endorsed Chase, calling him “arguably the No. 1 wide receiver in the game.” Chase’s speed, route-running and ability to create after the catch make him a constant threat, whether Cincinnati targets him downfield or gets him the ball in space.
The challenge does not end with Chase. Campbell described Higgins as being “among the top 10 WRs,” recognizing the Bengals’ ability to threaten defenses with two high-level receivers. Higgins gives Burrow another option on contested throws, making it difficult for opponents to focus coverage on Chase alone.
The matchup matters in the AFC North, where divisional games can affect the standings. Baltimore will need disciplined coverage, communication in the secondary and pressure that makes Burrow uncomfortable without leaving receivers open for big plays.

Campbell and the Ravens’ defensive front must disrupt the timing between Burrow and his targets. Pressure from the front four would allow Baltimore to keep defenders in coverage and limit explosive passes.
The Ravens host the Bengals on Sunday, Oct. 25. Campbell’s comments show that Baltimore understands the assignment: contain Burrow while accounting for two receivers capable of changing the game.
