The situation surrounding Nancy Guthrie, the mother of NBC “TODAY” anchor Savannah Guthrie, just keeps getting worse.
It was reported Monday that Nancy Guthrie was most likely abducted by her house in Arizona over the weekend. The Pima County Sheriff said the 84-year-old was last seen Saturday night.
"Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom," Savannah Guthrie said in a statement. "We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at: 520-351-4900."
On Tuesday afternoon, TMZ revealed that it received an alleged ransom note in connection to Guthrie's mother.
"The note, which was sent to us Tuesday morning, demands a specific substantial amount of Bitcoin ... the amount is in the millions, and the note demands the cryptocurrency be sent to a specific Bitcoin address," the report from TMZ states. "TMZ has verified the Bitcoin address is real."
This alleged ransom note features an "or else demand" at the bottom of it.

What's the latest on Guthrie?
The authorities said they haven't discovered any tire tracks or footprints around Guthrie's house, which only adds even more uncertainty to this scary situation.
"We don't know where she is," Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said. "Like any investigation, you start from the point of where we last saw her, and we work out. And we are working as far out as we can go."
Another press conference is scheduled for this Thursday. We'll see if something breaks between now and then.
Our thoughts remain with Guthrie's loved ones.
