When healthy, deGrom is still one of the better pitchers in baseball at 37 years old. He impressed across 30 outings last year, but he had not made more than 30 starts since 2019 before the 2025 campaign.
The five-time All-Star and two-time Cy Young winner turned in a strong 2.97 ERA in 2025. Texas wants to compete in 2026, so the team will need deGrom to stay healthy. The fact that he is starting on Tuesday is an important update.
