Despite entering the 2026 NFL season with expectations as high as any team in the league, the Los Angeles Rams have stumbled to begin their season. Entering Week 7’s matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders, the Rams are 2-4 and have lost back-to-back games.
While the Rams have shown flashes of brilliance at times, including a 28-6 Week 2 victory over the New York Giants, these moments have been overshadowed by offensive inconsistency and disappointment. Last season, the Rams’ offense was first in the NFL in points per game, but it has dropped all the way down to 20th this season.

One bright spot on an otherwise underwhelming offensive unit has been veteran wide receiver Davante Adams. Through six games this season, Adams has hauled in 30 receptions for 480 yards and four touchdowns, entering Week 7 with the eighth-most receiving yards in the league.
Unfortunately, one of the Rams’ biggest setbacks came in their Week 6 upset loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Davante Adams suffered a non-contact injury in the fourth quarter that was later revealed to be a ruptured hamstring. Adams is set to miss six to ten weeks, and the team placed him on injured reserve.
Adams’ injury has left the Rams with an interesting decision as the trade deadline approaches. According to Dan Graziano of ESPN, the Rams will “at least explore the possibility of trading for a wide receiver.”
The Rams still have a star in Puka Nacua to highlight their receiver room, but Adams had carved out a significant role in the offense before his injury. Outside of Nacua, the Rams’ receiving group consists of Tutu Atwell, Jordan Whittington, and Konata Mumpfield, none of whom have ever recorded more than 45 receptions in a season.
With Adams recording 30 catches through only six games, Los Angeles will have to decide whether anyone in its current group can come close to replacing that level of production.
If not, the Rams may look outside the organization for a more proven option. That would not necessarily require a blockbuster acquisition. Acquiring a receiver capable of handling a reliable secondary role could be enough to help stabilize the offense.
