The Los Angeles Rams are adding cornerback depth before Sunday’s matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, elevating Cam Lampkin from the practice squad while cornerback Trent McDuffie remains questionable with a groin injury.
The move gives Los Angeles another option in the secondary if McDuffie cannot play. The Rams listed McDuffie as questionable after he missed Friday’s practice, leaving his availability uncertain heading into the divisional game.
The team also activated offensive lineman Keagen Trost from injured reserve. Trost could make his NFL regular-season debut against Arizona, giving the Rams another option up front as they try to rebound from Monday night’s overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills.
McDuffie’s injury surfaced near the end of Thursday’s practice, Rams head coach Sean McVay said. The team held the cornerback out Friday as a precaution, and McVay said the Rams would assess the situation before deciding whether he could play.
That uncertainty makes Lampkin’s elevation significant. The Rams will need reliable coverage options against an Arizona offense that can test defensive backs on the perimeter. However, the roster move alone does not confirm that McDuffie will be inactive.

Los Angeles enters the matchup at 2-3 after falling 37-34 to Buffalo in overtime. The Rams will be looking to steady their season against a division opponent, but McDuffie’s status could shape their defensive plans.
Trost’s return offers a separate boost to the offense. His activation gives the Rams another available offensive lineman, though his role against Arizona remains to be seen. The club’s final decisions will determine how much help both players can provide on Sunday.
For now, Lampkin adds depth while the Rams wait for clarity on McDuffie. The cornerback remains questionable, and his availability should become clearer before kickoff today.
