Bryan Hodgson was announced as the new head coach of the Providence Friars men's basketball team this past Sunday.
On Tuesday afternoon, Hodgson held his official introductory press conference and, wow oh wow, did the 38-year-old coach stick the landing by referencing his wife, Jordan, to convey the quality of his recruiting skills.
"If you ever wanna question my recruiting abilities, just take a look at my wife Jordan," Hodgson said to much laughter and applause.
If students at Providence and fans alike were not yet convinced that Hodgson was a great hire, it's a pretty safe bet the viral quote helped him cross the finish line for anyone holding any doubts.
How Hodgson's Recruiting Reputation and One Charming Joke Won Over Providence

"I wanna thank my family, my better half, my beautiful spouse here, Jordan. My son Jett, who you'll hear plenty [from] throughout this speech. If you ever wanna question my recruiting abilities just take a look at my wife Jordan."
As the Barstool Sports X account proclaimed, "Providence struck gold in [hiring] Bryan Hodgson."
Based on the crowd's thunderous reaction, it sure sounds like Providence may have struck gold thanks to the incredibly confident quote.
Other users on X were quick to chime in and confirm that Hodgson was up there speaking the truth.
Another user simply stated, "That’s a bar," appropriately followed by a mic emoji.
We also must give credit where credit is most certainly due, as X account @d00gs dropped this endorsement of Hodgson on March 17 in just about the same exact manner as Tuesday's official press conference went down:
While Hodgson himself quite obviously referred to Jordan Norris as his "spouse" and "wife," Norris is officially referenced as his fiancée, including in the University of Providence's official announcement of the hiring.
Regardless, the happy couple shares a son, Jett, who was born in 2024 and referenced in the build-up to Hodgson's mic-drop quote.
Hodgson is coming off an exceptional year at South Florida with a record of 25-9, while previously compiling a record of 45–28 in two seasons as head coach of Arkansas State.
