President Donald Trump ranks among the biggest sports fans to ever sit in the Oval Office and took a little dig at the struggling New York Mets at a recent rally.
During a rally in Georgia today, President Trump hyped up the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves amid their 59-42 record. He then joked that he wishes the New York Mets could poach one of the Braves' best personnel because they "lose all the time" in spite of their payroll.
"But this guy has done such a good job! The Mets have the highest salary in baseball, and they lose all the time!" President Trump said. "And I say, 'Maybe we could steal this guy...'"
Pain
Mets fans are already in a world of pain, sitting dead last in their division at 43-60 and basically out of playoff contention even with more than a third of the games still to play. Seeing President Trump diss them like that felt like a new low for some:
"When the President is taking Jabs at the Mets, you definitely need to make some serious adjustments," one Mets fan admitted.
"I think I just hit my low point as a Mets fan," another wrote.
"Catching strays from the president, it never ends," a third lamented.
"What's even sadder is that Trump is actually right and it's not Fake News LOL."
"He's not wrong. As a life long Mets fan, it's atrocious."

The Mets currently have their worst win rate since 2003 and have already fired manager Carlos Mendoza.
Things could easily get worse before they get better.
