Prayers are pouring in for seven major U.S. states bracing for extreme cold on Sunday.

The National Weather Service is warning seven major U.S. states about dangerously low temperatures on Sunday. The extreme temperature drop could hit on Sunday, with temperatures dropping into the single digits. With the wind chill, it could feel like a negative temparture.

Prayers are pouring in for the seven major U.S. states set to get hit hard by low temps on Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon.

"Wind chill values can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure," the alert reads.

"Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves."

Prayers are pouring in for the residents of the following seven major U.S. states on Sunday morning:

  • Virginia
  • Maryland
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Massachusetts
  • North Carolina
  • Vermont

As a reminder, here's what to do when an extreme cold wave hits:

  • Minimize travel.
  • Stay indoors during the worst part of the extreme cold.
  • Keep a winter survival kit in your vehicle if you must travel.
  • Check tire pressure, antifreeze levels, heater/defroster, etc.
  • Learn how to shut off water valves for potential pipe bursts.
  • Check on the elderly.
  • Bring pets inside.
  • Wear layers of loose-fitting, lightweight, warm clothing, and a hat.
  • Mittens, snug at the wrist, are better than gloves.
  • Cover your mouth to protect your lungs from extreme cold.
  • Try to stay dry and out of the wind.
