Prayers are pouring in after a beloved U.S. teacher was killed in a "horrific" crash on Monday evening.

A deadly crash took place on I-71 in Ohio on Monday. The deadly crash happened on Interstate 71 northbound in Warren County.

Two people, 28-year-old Micaela Pedicone and 49-year-old Darnell McKinney Jr., were killed in the crash.

"Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles. They sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said," Local 12 reported.

Pedicone worked as a teacher at South Lebanon Elementary School in the Kings Local School District.

A statement on the crash was released.

"Kings Local School District is deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of Micaela Pedicone, a teacher at South Lebanon Elementary School, who died as a result of an automobile accident on January 19, 2026. Micaela was a valued member of our school community who cared deeply for her students and colleagues. Her loss is felt profoundly across our district. To provide care and support for students and staff, South Lebanon Elementary is closed to students on January 20, 2026. Grief counselors are available on-site from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to support students and staff during this difficult time. We are working closely with Micaela’s family and will share additional information as appropriate. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, students, and colleagues."
