Two beloved hikers have been found dead.
Two hikers, aged 19 and 20, were found on Yr Wyddfa, also known as Snowdon, this week. The deadly event happened in Wales.
"We can confirm that two bodies have been located in the Eryri mountain range during searches for two missing men, aged 19 and 20," police announced.
"Concerns for the welfare of the men were reported to police on Wednesday, 18 February.
"Crews from Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team, Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team, RAF Mountain Rescue Service, SARDA and HM Coastguard were deployed and carried out extensive searches on Yr Wyddfa until the early hours of Thursday morning."
Multiple outlets, including The Guardian, the BBC, and ITV, have identified the hikers as Eddie Hill, 20, and Jayden Long, 19, both from Norfolk.
Eddie's brother, Harry, is devastated.
"Words cannot describe the pain that me and my family and friends are going through at the moment. He is the most beautiful boy inside and out and he will be missed dearly,” said Hill, per ITV.
Prayers are pouring in for their family members
"Such tragic news," one wrote.
"Horrible. Praying for their families," one added.
"Will be thinking of them today. May they rest in peace," one shared.
"Awful news. Praying for them all," another added.
A statement was released by police, too.
“The team were tasked by North Wales Police and launched an extensive multi-agency operation in full winter conditions,” Jurgen Dissmann, Chair of Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team, said. “Volunteers searched across challenging mountain terrain in snow and ice, working long hours through the night in difficult weather in an effort to locate the pair as quickly as possible.”
"Despite the determined and sustained commitment of everyone involved, we are deeply saddened that, despite all efforts, the outcome was not what we had hoped for."
May they rest in peace.
