Prayers are pouring in on social media after five people have been killed in "horrific" U.S. motorcycle crashes.
A 56-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash in Ohio, a 30-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash in Florida, a 47-year-old man was killed in Kansas and two people were killed from Wisconsin.
The deadly crash featuring two Wisconsin residents was especially tragic, claiming two lives.
"The crash happened just after 11 a.m. along Highway 83, about eight miles south of Zapata," the report states.
"Bruce Michael Erickson, 72, was driving a black 2010 Harley Davidson southbound when it struck a concrete barrier. Both Erickson and his passenger, 71-year-old Lynn Celeste Erickson, were thrown from the motorcycle.
"Both victims were from Saint Croix Falls, Wisconsin."
Prayers are pouring in for everyone impacted.
"Such tragic news. What an awful way to go," one wrote.
"Praying for them today," one added.
"Will be thinking of their families. May they rest in peace," another shared.
In the wake of the five deaths, it's important to remember motorcycle safety tips:
- Constantly search the road for changing conditions. Use the Search-Evaluate-Execute strategy (SEE) to assess and respond to hazards before you have to react to an emergency.
- Give yourself space and time as you search for traps and escape paths.
- Give other motorists time and space to respond to you.
- Use lane positioning to see and be seen.
- Search for vehicles that may turn across your path, especially at intersections.
- Use your turn signals for all turns and lane changes.
- Ride as if you’re invisible.
- Don’t ride when you are tired or under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.
- Know and follow the rules of the road.
Stay safe, everyone.
