Prayers are pouring in after eight U.S. high school athletes have died in "horrific" accidents.
An eighth U.S. high school athlete died this week. A high school football player in Texas died during a practice accident. He collapsed and died during a training drill.
Jaren Lawson, 16, was pronounced dead.
"Early findings indicate no evidence that Jaren informed his coaching staff of an inability to participate in practice," district spokesperson Barry Perez said.
The school district is deeply saddened.
"Northside ISD is committed to a transparent and exhaustive investigation," he said. "We ask for the community's continued patience as we work to verify every detail, ensuring that all final conclusions are based on a complete and accurate record of events."

He is tragically the eighth U.S. high school athlete to be killed in a tragic accident.
Three high school athletes in Texas were killed in sledding accidents, two high school athletes in California and Tennessee were killed in car accidents and two were killed in a train crash.
The train crash was particularly horrific.
“At approximately 2:45 this afternoon, troopers were dispatched to FM 18 and County Road 243," said a Sergeant of Texas Department of Public Safety, Marc Couch. "On the north side of that intersection is the entrance to a private driveway. A Ford F-150 was attempting to exit that area, crossing the railroad tracks, and failed to yield the right of way to an oncoming train.”

"Tragic news," one wrote.
"Praying for them all," one added.
"Thinking of their friends and family members today. May they rest in peace," one added.
"Praying for their parents," another shared.
"RIP, man," one fan added.
