Prayers are pouring in after eight people have died in a "horrific" U.S. avalanche.
Eight people are dead and one is still missing following a horrible avalanche in California this week. The avalanche hit Northern California, authorities said.
The avalanche hit the Lake Tahoe area, about 90 miles northeast of Sacramento, which has been hit with an abundance of snowfall. The avalanche hit in Truckee, Calif., on Tuesday morning. A group of backcountry skiers—four guides and 11 clients - was swept up by the snow.
One man and five women were rescued.
Eight people have been confirmed dead, while one is still missing.
“We are still looking for one of the members at this time due to the ongoing challenges of the weather, the avalanche conditions,” said Nevada County Sheriff Shannan Moon.
