Prayers are pouring in after seven U.S. high school athletes were killed in tragic accidents over the past week.

Three U.S. high school athletes in Texas were killed in sledding accidents, while two U.S. high school athletes in Texas were killed in a train crash and two in Tennessee and California were killed in car accident.

The two sledding accidents claimed the lives of three teens. Two teenage girls were killed when the sled they were riding on crashed into a tree. The sled had been pulled by a Jeep. Another athlete in Texas died in similar fashion, when his sled being pulled by a car crashed into a fence.

Elsewhere in Texas, two siblings and high school athletes died when their pickup truck failed to yield to an oncoming train.

“At approximately 2:45 this afternoon, troopers were dispatched to FM 18 and County Road 243," said a Sergeant of Texas Department of Public Safety, Marc Couch. "On the north side of that intersection is the entrance to a private driveway. A Ford F-150 was attempting to exit that area, crossing the railroad tracks, and failed to yield the right of way to an oncoming train.”

Finally, in Tennessee and California, two high school athletes were killed in car accidents. Andrew Carroll of Tennessee and Hunter Langley of California were killed.

“Hunter was much more than a dedicated high school student — he was a beloved member of the Sierra Canyon community. His classmates and teammates remember him as a bright, athletic, and compassionate young man who brought joy to those around him. Friends recall Hunter as someone who “put a light to the room every time he walked in,” the school said.

Prayers are pouring in for their families

"Horrifying news," one shared.

"Praying for their families today," one added.

"Can't believe this. How awful," another fan wrote.

"Praying for their parents. Can't imagine the pain they are going through today," one added.

Our thoughts are with the friends and family members of all seven U.S. high school athletes.
