Prayers are pouring in after a Super Bowl-winning NFL coach died on Monday.
Ray Handley, a two-time Super Bowl-winning coach as an assistant, was later the head coach of the New York Giants. He passed away on Monday, at 81 years old. Handley was the head coach of the Giants from 1991 until 1992.
"My Uncle, Ray Handley (October 8, 1944 - February 5, 2026), was an American football player and coach whose career spanned several decades at the collegiate and professional levels, including leadership roles within one of the most influential coaching eras in modern football history," his nephew announced.
"Over the course of his career, Handley coached and influenced numerous accomplished professional and collegiate players, contributing to the development of athletes who would go on to achieve success at the highest levels of the sport. His reputation within football circles was that of a demanding coach who understood the game deeply."
The Giants are saddened by his passing.
"We remember former Giants head coach and two-time Super Bowl champion offensive backfield coach Ray Handley, whose passing was confirmed by his nephew Rob Handley," the team announced.
