Week Zero in college football is almost here, and it’s never too early to speculate about who will win the Heisman Trophy. Athlon Sports’ Kyle Wood recently broke down the top 10 contenders who are getting the most preseason hype for college football’s most prized award. In some cases, it’s a matter of rounding up the usual suspects. Notre Dame has had seven winners, and current Fighting Irish QB CJ Carr is on the watch list. And, of course, you can’t talk Heisman hype without thinking about Texas QB Arch Manning.
Of course, Fernando Mendoza wasn’t even a blip on the radar at this time last year, but his heroics at Indiana made him a runaway winner. Kyle did also offer a list of 2026 Heisman sleepers, but for this purpose we’ll stick to his top 10.
