The San Francisco 49ers have enough to overcome if they want to go far this season. They have to navigate a division in the NFC West that features the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks and the 2026 Super Bowl favorite Los Angeles Rams. On top of that, every time a 49ers player so much as stubs his toe, we’re going to hear about the electrical substation near the team’s practice facility.
It’s a conspiracy theory that has been debunked. The team hired an independent scientist to investigate, and 49ers GM John Lynch said they found the issue was “a big nothing burger.”
Still, the 49ers continue to be one of the most injury-plagued teams in the NFL. Fantasy football managers around the world are holding their breath as star running back Christian McCaffrey continues to nurse what the team is calling “muscle tightness.” Wide receiver Ricky Pearsall is out for the season and veteran Mike Evans has been banged up.
