Week 1 of the NFL preseason concludes Saturday with six games, punctuated with one prime-time game: Dallas Cowboys at Seattle Seahawks (8 p.m. ET, NFL Network). It’s our first look at the Seahawks since they won Super Bowl LX in February. Of course, don’t expect to see many of the starters on the field for very long. Same goes for the Cowboys, but it’s still more meaningful… because it’s the Cowboys.
It would be surprising if the Seahawks don’t remain a serious Super Bowl contender this season, but America’s Team is the mystery here. The Cowboys are 14-19-1 over the last two seasons. They’re offense, with Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, can be one of the most explosive units in the country, but the defense was historically bad last season. Jerry Jones’ team made moves to rectify that, most notably taking Ohio State safety Caleb Downs with the 11th overall draft pick.
The rival Philadelphia Eagles have won back-to-back NFC East titles, but there are those who believe the Cowboys can dethrone them if things break the right way.
