And the rich get richer… In a trade that should have surprised absolutely nobody, the two-time defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday acquired two-time defending AL Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers.
The Dodgers, who currently have a 10-game lead in the NL West, are looking to become the first MLB team to threepeat since the New York Yankees (1998-2000). Skubal is 7-5 with a 2.79 ERA this season. Skubal’s presence bolsters a Dodgers rotation that was weakened when two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani suffered knee inflammation that has limited him to just hitting since early July.
Skubal will be a free agent after this season, so the Dodgers didn’t have to give up a ton of talent to get him. But they will need to pay up big-time if they want to sign him after the season, which seems very likely. Money, of course, doesn’t seem to be an object for the Dodgers.
So…
Which of these bold AFC West predictions is most likely to happen?
