Today is that rarest of days: a Sunday in September with no NFL games. The first Sunday of the 2026 NFL season is next week, so three college football games take center stage. The biggest game of the day is Notre Dame at Wisconsin (7:30 p.m. ET, NBC) — at Lambeau Field in Green Bay.
While Wisconsin is always dangerous, they are heavy underdogs here. Notre Dame goes into 2026 with high expectations. They have a Heisman Trophy candidate at quarterback in CJ Carr, a talented defense, and they are still pissed about being snubbed for the College Football Playoff last season.
The Fighting Irish are ranked No. 4 in Athlon Sports’ preseason Top 25.
