Lebron James and Philadelphia 76ers fans can breathe a sigh of relief. It turns out the social media post Sunday that reported Sixers star center Joel Embiid would miss the 2026-27 season with a knee injury was a hoax. The report seemingly came from ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania, but it was an imposter account.
Imagine how James would have felt were this story true. James rocked the NBA world this summer when he signed with the 76ers, teaming with Embiid, newly acquired Jaylen Brown and Tyrese Maxey to form a new super-team.
But hey, there’s a reason the Embiid hoax was easy to believe. The 32-year-old, oft-injured Embiid has averaged just 32 games played over his last three seasons. The dude gets injured a lot.
